Aishwarya Rai is not interested in flaunting her baby bump, in public. If rumors are to be believed, the gorgeous actress bluntly rejected an offer to show off her baby bump for the cover page. Not just that. Ash is also trying her best to make public appearances and be in the spotlight.

As sources say, the actress is also trying to stay away from the country to avoid the spotlight. Too much attention is not good.

“She doesn’t want to be in the limelight when she’s pregnant. In any case, too much attention at this time is considered inauspicious. She has decided to stay away (from spotlight) as much as she can, so she stayed away from Mumbai for so long,” tells a source to a daily.

But now, the question that arises is that despite being pregnant for how many ever months, with the baby bump visible, why did she shoot for a commercial??

Well, the actress is a through professional. It was a prior work commitment and Ash only did her job.

No holiday for Abhi-Ash on fourth anniversary

Aishwarya Abhishek Marriage: abhi aish wedding 10 Work will keep Bollywood's star couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai busy on their fourth wedding anniversary April 20.

Abhishek says he will be busy promoting 'Dum Maaro Dum', releasing April 22, after which he will be off for a shooting schedule.

'I don't have a break at all. As soon as 'Dum Maaro Dum' releases, I will be going to Russia for shooting (Abbas-Mustan's) 'Players'. There's going to be no break for the anniversary as I am going to be thick in the middle of promotions at that time,' Abhishek told IANS.

The 35-year-old whisked off his wife to the US for a vacation last year. In 2009, the actors took a week off from the shooting of Mani Ratnam's 'Raavan' and went for a holiday, while for their first anniversary, Abhishek was busy shooting in Miami for 'Dostana', and Aishwarya had joined him there.

The couple tied the knot in 2007 in Mumbai.

Abhishek top Bollywood brand endorser

Guess which Bollywood actor is the most visible face in the advertising space? No 'idea'? Well, it's Abhishek Bachchan, who hogs the limelight among his film world peers, according to a study.

AdEx India, a division of TAM Media Research, recently conducted a study on celebrity brand endorsements for the period of January-December 2010 and found that Abhishek topped the list in the male star category.

The list was compiled by taking into account figures based on ad volumes (seconds), and advertising featuring celebrities from Hindi films and TV industry, as well as sports personalities.

The report concludes that Abhishek alone covered 4.7 percent share of ad volume, out of the 41.5 percent film actors hogged on the endorsement circuit today.

'Abhishek Bachchan has taken the 'Get Idea' campaign to an all new level. He makes you really sit up and take notice - the intelligent ad needed an intelligent face and that's exactly what he brings to the table,' a statement said, quoting a marketing expert.

Idea Cellular grabbed the top spot recently in the Mint Synovate TVAdIndx survey. The ads featuring Abhishek dominated TV advertising in January, shrugging off competition from food and beverage companies and a mobile handset maker to lead the ad reach index, a measure of awareness and brand recall.

Exclusive Ram Charan Interview

1.Ram Charan Tej – the world at his feet

Like most interesting people, he holds within himself many different aspects. At once charming, elegant & then exhibiting the confidence of a Mega Power Star, Ram Charan Tej is a package of contradictions. He is at times shy, at other times disarmingly outspoken; his speech is peppered with references to philosophy, his love for cars & horses; he’s the ultimate industry insider’s outsider, an artist who could take full advantage of a high-profile star son’s career, but who has instead blazed his own trail towards his own brand of fulfillment. He’s been patient and methodical and, with the best of acting offers still coming in, he’s just about where he wants to be in life. MAA Stars had the pleasure of speaking with Mega Power Star Ram Charan Tej, where he spoke about life before & after movies, the likely comparisons between him & his dad and lots more… .

2.First up, your comments on this shoot

To be frank, I am more comfortable with film shoots rather than photo shoots. I admit I even get scared at times. But this shoot with maastars has been an amazing experience. I never realized that photos shoots can also be done so easily with such perfection. I felt very comfortable as everything was planned and organized so well. Everybody, right from the cameraman to every individual in the team, was in proper sync with each other. And the photos have come out great. It was a really amazing experience. I’ve had lots of fun.

3.From being the Megastar’s son to being the Mega Power Star in your own right…the journey… what has changed?

Nothing really has changed per se. I still feel the same. But when it comes to the fan support, I personally enjoy all those accolades showered on me. They say that one should grow step by step in his field, but it feels like I am already placed on a pedestal, way above where I deserve to be right now. I love my fans for this though I have a lot more to accomplish.

4. Obviously your dad is a role model. How was life growing up as his son?

Having a person at home who has 30 years experience in his field is definitely advantageous to an actor like me by all means. Keeping his star image aside for a moment, but the obedience he has shown towards his directors, the way he moulded himself to his Director’s needs is just amazing. The knowledge that he gained in all these years fetches me many things. I got to learn a lot from him each and every single day for the past 27 years. The attitude which an actor should carry, his behavior in the industry, I learned every bit of it from my dad. Normally many actors may take time to realize & learn all these things on their own. But luckily, I learnt everything even before I entered the industry itself! 5. How did the fact that you’re from a film family shape your sensibilities? Did it give you some sort of a direction early on in life? Frankly speaking, I was never pushed by anyone to become an actor. I believe one should take their own path as per his/her wish in life. Otherwise we can never justify one’s purpose in life. Never did my dad try to push me into acting. After I finished college, I just went upto him and put forth my wish to act. Those were the happiest moments for my dad. He told me that he was waiting for the day his son would walk up to him to say those words for a long time. He felt elated over my interest to act. Without doubt, he has given me a very good platform and I strive to make the best use of it.

6. Did you always feel drawn to movies?

Seriously, I never thought of acting until I was 16 years old. I used to enjoy watching dad’s movies but never envisaged myself to become an actor like him on screen. But when the time came for me to think of making a career, the thought of cinema came to me for the first time. 7. What’s the best thing about being in the film world?

To me, it’s about living all those emotions. Usually, people end up frustrated because they are unable to find that outlet to vent their emotions out. An actor’s biggest advantage is that he can take all his frustrations & irritations out naturally onscreen. We get to play the navarasalu (nine emotions) in a single day. It may sound funny but it really works. 8. And the worst?

We lose our sense of comfort. Getting up at odd times, following strict instructions, the rigor & discipline an actor has to put himself through can sometime get to him. But soon, it turns itself on its head & becomes a blessing in disguise. So I am not really complaining.

9. What about fame? Irrespective of a film’s result, you need to keep a balanced mindset. Never let fame get to you. That’s my dad’s biggest plus point. If his movie’s a flop, he plans his next project carefully. If his movie’s a hit, he still plans his next project carefully. He loves what he does. He doesn’t let fame or success get into his head. Once he finishes a movie, he’ll have a dinner with the unit and move on the next project. I have grown up in the shadow of his qualities, which I always strive to emulate. It makes me happy that my movie does well. But I never let that success get to my head and never let arrogance creep into my attitude. It will demean my success.

10. People are so judgmental about star sons. What goes through your mind when you read stuff? How do you take criticism?

I take it the same way as well. Just like how I take my hits and flops, I take criticism also on the same note. I think this is all part of the game. Along with money & fame, we have got to accept criticism also. There is a famous saying in horse riding which says “Until & unless you fall at least 7 times from your horse, you will never be recognized as a horse rider”. If I don’t possess the capability to take criticism, I can never be called a complete actor. That’s what I believe. 11. Do you find it strange that people have already started trusting you, with so few films to your credit? I accept it with all humility. The admiration & love showered on me makes me really happy. I will try to take my skills to the next level. And I will definitely not disappoint my admirers!

12. How much of your acting do you put down to genetics and how much to the rest?

Growing up, obviously my dad is an inspiration and I have imbibed some of his traits. Even as an actor, I am inspired by him though I have consciously tried to develop a style of my own. Acting in my dad’s style of body language comes naturally to me. But I blend it with my own style. Maybe an 80% Charan, 20% Chiranjeevi! People keep saying they see a bit of my dad’s style in me, but they also say that they found my style different than that of my father’s! That’s what makes me happy. 13. Interestingly, in an interview with MAASTARS, Chiranjeevi garu has remarked that Charan is not just one or two movies old but in fact he’s 150 movies old, since he considers all his experience passed on to you. Your reaction….

Yes, my dad’s movies always keep playing in my mind. His experience is behind me, driving me, pushing me forward with greater force. Chiruta is my 149th movie and Magadheera is my father’s 149th movie.

Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif

She is definitely one of the most beautiful women in the Hindi Film industry. However, no one has ever written a love poem for Katrina, she believes that love is the only beautiful thing in the world. The actress wishes that Gulzar saab would write one for her.

Recently at the launch of Pritish Nandy’s book ‘Love Poems’ she says, “Nobody has ever written a poem for me. But if actually someone writes a poem for me, I think that will be very romantic.”

She was looking her best in an off-white knee length dress, Katrina, 26, surprised everyone present there saying, “I want Gulzar saab to write poems for me.”

Gulzar, 74, has written many poetry books and innumerable songs, was also present at the event. He said, “Inshallah, I would write a poem for Katrina for sure.”

The entire event was about love poems, and it was obvious that everyone wanted to know Katrina’s views on love and romance. The actress obliged everybody by sharing her views.

“Even though love is known to entail pain, disillusionment, disappointment, still I don’t want to be pessimistic about love. I would rather want to have a positive approach to love. I believe that there can be a happy ending, because love is the most beautiful thing in the world,” said Katrina.

When media asked her about her Valentine’s Day plan she said, “No plans, I will be working on that day.”

Priyanka made Kareena wait

Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor

On Friday evening, Kareena Kapoor drove down all the way from Pune to Mumbai for shooting her televised act for an award ceremony. What should have ended in a few hours took them forever, thanks to Priyanka Chopra.

Bebo finished with her make-up and hair and arrived on the stage to see that it was already occupied by Priyanka Chopra. She had to wait for four hours before she could actually shoot her performance.

A source present at the awards revealed, “Kareena landed at Yash Raj Studios around midnight; she found that the stage was occupied by Priyanka. She waited patiently for sometime. On spotting her, PC came down from the stage and told her that she could not give the stage until 1 am (although Kareena was assigned the stage at 12 am).”

PC continued to rehearse till 4 am, by that time, the exhausted Kareena had left for home.

The next morning, Kareena asked her manager Zahid to cancel the shooting (with Salman for Bodyguard), which was scheduled on Saturday in Pune and then came back to the studio to finish her song.

Normally, the fiery Bebo would have flared up because she was kept waiting for more than four hours. Although, she was smarting with humiliation, she maintained her cool. Later, she gave a call to the organizers and gave her piece.

They explained it to her that because of some technical problems, Priyanka’s act took a longer time.

PC’s spokesperson said, “Priyanka was not aware that Bebo had to wait for hours. Not that I am aware of. Priyanka had a long act with many changes.”

Dhoni and Southee pull off yorker coup

Chennai Super Kings celebrate their last-ball win, Chennai v Kolkata, IPL 2011, Chennai, April 8, 2011

MS Dhoni's tactical nous and Tim Southee's ability to bowl yorkers at will made the difference for Chennai as they pulled off a last-ball win against Kolkata in the IPL's opening game.

Kolkata were on top when they needed nine runs to win off the last eight balls, but Chennai squeaked through thanks to Southee's exemplary final over. Having delivered a couple of yorkers well outside off stump earlier in the over, Southee finished the game with an inswinger on Rajat Bhatia's toes that yielded only a single, leaving Kolkata three runs short.

That ball came after much deliberation between Dhoni and Southee, and several changes to the field. "For the last ball, I was confused between the two options - yorker outside off, or yorker at the batsman's feet," Dhoni explained later. "First [earlier in the over], we compromised and went for outside-off yorkers, but later I thought with the field we had, it was good to go with the batsman, towards the batsman. Because, then, even if he hits the ball there are two fielders to field the ball, he will have to hit a brilliant shot through midwicket to get to the boundary."

Despite having retained most of their key players from prior seasons, Dhoni revealed that his team was a little apprehensive going into the game, since they had not played together as a unit before. In what has now become his trademark style, Dhoni had a motorcar analogy to make his point. "It was the first game of the IPL with a slightly new squad," Dhoni said. "You get a new car and you want to break it in, but you don't want to 'break it' in. Everyone was a bit tentative at start of the game since it was a new squad. Even if we did not win this game, we would have got a lot out of it."

Things worked out well for Chennai on the field after Kolkata got off to a confident start to the chase of 154, rattling up 64 for 0 in 8.4 overs. Thereafter, Chennai turned the tide, with Dhoni himself effecting three stumpings as the spinners came into their own. Dhoni also scored a direct hit to run Yusuf Pathan out, while Scott Styris hit the stumps to send Gautam Gambhir back.

"The fielding was very good," Dhoni said. "I thought 150 was enough on this wicket, but the new ball was important. If we had given too many with the new ball, it would have been tough to contain later on. Most people thought after 8 overs the game was over with 60-70 runs on the board, but I told my players the game had only started since the ball was stopping, and there would be a bit of reverse swing. That's when we needed the breakthroughs and I am glad they were provided."

While Dhoni's tactical moves clicked, things went the other way for Gambhir. His decision to drop down the order was met with surprise. By the time he came out at No. 6, the pressure had mounted considerably on Kolkata since they had lost Jacques Kallis and Eoin Morgan in quick succession. As it transpired, Gambhir was run out attempting a suicidal second, leaving his team in further trouble.

"It's just a strategy with Jacques Kallis and me, the two of us keep batting steadily while the rest keep coming hard from the other end," Gambhir said. If Jacques gets out early, I can go out and anchor the innings. It was just a strategy that we tried, it didn't work."

Despite Gambhir's failure, Kolkata hit their way back into the game, with Manoj Tiwary clubbing Suraj Randiv for two sixes to reduce the equation to nine off eight. Gambhir admitted that they should have won it from there, but chose to instead focus on the positives. "This is just the start of the tournament, I think we played reasonably well, and hopefully we can get a lot of confidence from the game," he said. "With Brett Lee and Shakib Al Hasan coming in [after the Bangladesh-Australia ODIs], it will only boost our bowling attack . We need to try and not make the same mistakes we made in this game"

Chennai's score was made possible by S Anirudha's innings of 64, which consisted of some fluent hits over the in-field amidst a lot of scratchiness. Anirudha admitted it wasn't an easy pitch to bat on. "I got a chance to open after a long time and I liked it," Anirudha said. "Initially I thought this was a good wicket for a score of 160-170. I later realised the ball is not coming on as much as I thought it would. The pitch was two-paced, some were skidding on, some were stopping and turning. Around the 16th over, I thought 160 was a good total and we eventually got there."

Kapoors faced financial crunch after 'Mera Naam Joker'

Actor Randhir Kapoor, son of legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor has revealed that after the debacle of his father's ambitious project 'Mera Naam Joker' in 1970, the family faced a major financial crunch.

'Mera Naam Joker' was a film about a clown who must make his audience laugh at the cost of his own sorrow.

'We were facing a financial crunch in the early 1970s because 'Mera Naam Joker' didn't work and we suffered huge losses because of that. 'Mera Naam Joker' was closest to my father's heart. He was very fond of that picture and he has made it with a lot of passion, great love and lots of money according to those days. But it flopped.'

'But as of today, that film is the biggest profit point for R.K films. Wherever it has screened in festivals or on TV, it earns money for us. It's a super duper hit for us. And I'm sure wherever my father is today, up above, he will be really proud of this film,' Randhir told reporters here.

The actor had got together with his other two brothers - Rishi and Rajiv Kapoor - to announce the Raj Kapoor retrospective that will take place in Toronto June 26 in association with the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) and Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Rishi Kapoor said: 'Our father was a great man both in his personal and professional life. His passion and love for cinema shines through in all his movies and he has made a place for himself in the hearts of cinema lovers all over India. I'm thrilled about this retrospective of his work and cannot wait to see it.'

A total of 15 iconic Raj Kapoor films will be screened during the retrospective including 'Aag', 'Awara', 'Shree 420' and 'Sangam' among others.

Also several pieces of memorabilia like costumes, cut-outs and props used during his films will be displayed.

A series of paintings inspired by Raj Kapoor films by Goa-based artist Seema Sardesai will also be showcased during the event.

A.R. Rahman launches his biography

Music maestro A.R. Rahman got a little nostalgic remembering his old days, during the launch of his biography 'A.R. Rahman: The Spirit of Music' in Mumbai Wednesday night.

The book has been penned by renowned writer Nasreen Munni Kabir.

The launch was also attended by Rahman's family, including his wife, sister and mother and filmmakers like Mani Ratnam, Ram Gopal Varma, Subhash Ghai, Ashutosh Gowarikar and Imtiaz Ali.

'I want to thank Munni for having the patience to sit with me and do this and to have an intension to do this,' Rahman said.

'While working on this book with Munni, I relived many old memories. But the one moment that I relived and can never forget was when I had no money to buy any equipment. I needed four lakh rupees and I didn't have that money. So my mother immediately sold off my sister's jewellery and gave me the money,' he said.

The book will provide a fascinating window into the world of the 'Mozart of Madras', who became the first Indian composer to win two Academy Awards for the 2008 blockbuster 'Slumdog Millionaire'.

Talking about her experience of writing the book, Kabir said: 'The idea of writing this film was actually trying and finding a way of creating a conversational biography that would record a person's thinking, a sweep of one's life upto now and some understanding of his craft and his personality.'

She thanked Rahman for giving her the opportunity to write the book.

The book took approximately eight years to finish, and Kabir said she witnessed no major changes in Rahman in all these years, even though his popularity rose manifold during the course of this period.

'The interaction with Rahman took place in many countries, spread over many years. He has changed a little bit. The core person is the same but the life is different. There are lot more pressures, tremendous success but he wears his success lightly, which means that he is still very humble about it and the people he respected and regarded then are the same people, he respects and regards even now,' the author said.

Gary Kirsten Leaves India Cricket Team For Family

Indian cricket team coach Gary Kirsten has announced all his work with the Indian team is over and that he will be flying back home to South Africa very soon. He couldn’t stay back with the Indian team, and cited that he has commitments with his family.
Even when master blaster Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh asked him to stay back, Gary couldn’t oblige. Kirsten said that he will have to spent some time with his family as of now.
He said, "It's been humbling to be asked to stay back. This has been a massive privilege for me but I did make a commitment to my family that it's gonna be a three-year journey. It's a lot of sacrifice to be away from home for long time. I have two sons -- seven and four -- and they need to see little bit of dad. It's not easy.”
Meanwhile, there is some history behind his decision as he had announced his going back to Zulu before the World Cup started. But he worked hard to make India as world team beaters.
"Personally I want Gary to continue but I understand he has got commitments and he must have thought about this before the tournament. I respect his decision," even Sachin said.
Yuvraj said, "He always kept a check on me. He pulled me up when the chips were down. He is a father figure and I am going to miss him. Cricket has been in the right direction since Gary came on and I hope it will remain so.”

Sachin deserves Bharat Ratna: Dhoni

If any Indian cricketer deserves the Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian award, it is batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni said Wednesday.

Speaking on the sidelines of the launch of the Indian Premier League Chennai Super Kings team which he leads, here on Wednesday, Dhoni opined that given Tendulkar's contribution to Indian cricket, he was '200 percent' worthy of the award.

'I agree 200 percent. He is the ideal candidate. He has served the country for a very long time. As a cricketer, if he doesnt get it then no one else can get it.

'He has done great things for the country, taking cricket to the next level. He has made the country proud and taken cricket to places where no one knew about cricket,' said Dhoni who himself had grown up idolizing Tendulkar.

Earlier this week, the Maharashtra government had recommended Tendulkar for the award in the wake of the World Cup triumph.

Reacting to Tendulkar's statement that Dhoni was the best captain he had played under, the skipper said he deemed it an honour to receive the accolade from the maestro.

'It is a great pleasure that he said what he said. I have been honest since the time I have started playing cricket. I have been trying to fulfill expectations. I am also serving the nation like him,' said Dhoni.

Deepika refuses 4 cr to dance at private bash

Deepika Padukone was approached by a rich and wealthy Punjabi London family to dance to her item song, ‘Dum Maro Dum’ but Deepika turned down the offer. She was asked to perform at a nightclub. "It was supposed to be a private party with family members and friends only. Since Dippy's sporting an extremely sexy look in the song, they wanted her to wear the skimpy shorts and perform the same moves," reveals a source. A source from London reveals, "The DMD song has been playing in night clubs. The family who made the offer is extremely rich and wealthy and from Knightsbridge. They were ready to pay her a bomb just for one song. The actress initially thought it was a joke, but when the proposal came in form of a letter with the amount cited, she was shocked. She has had many such offers in the past, but has always refused them." The family was totally disappointed because they had already booked the club and designed the club according to songs requirement. A source close to Deepika confirms, "The offer was made to her. But she has made it very clear that private parties are not her scene. She wouldn't do it for any amount."
